Requirements and Benefits
Important Dates and Requirements:
The Hume Center training year is 54 weeks and runs from August to August*. To start the training year, new trainees plus all staff and continuing trainees are required to participate in the:
- All-day Welcome Retreat, generally on the first Monday of August.
- Orientation Week(s): orientations for each program assignment are conducted during the first two weeks of the training year
* All important training year dates and requirements will be confirmed once accepted in your Letter of Understanding.
Weekly Requirements:
- Full-time Doctoral Interns, Post-Doctoral Fellows, and Masters Associates: During the training year, these positions spend a minimum of 40 hours/week assigned to one Clinic (Concord, Fremont, Pittsburg, Pleasanton, or Richmond) while participating in a weekly all-agency didactic seminar for their training level.
- Half- time trainees/practicum students: During the training year, half-time trainees spend a minimum of 20 hours/week in one clinic.
- Meeting requirements will depend on the schedule at your assigned clinic. Group supervision runs for two hours a week.
- All practicum students, doctoral interns, masters associates, and post-doctoral fellows will spend at least 25% of their time in face-to-face psychological services to patients/clients. Doctoral Interns are assigned 22 hours of direct service when full-time and 11 hours of direct services when part-time.
- Active and professional participation in didactics is expected. Didactic seminars run for two hours a week.
- Full and proactive use of supervision is expected. Practicum students receive one hour weekly, doctoral interns receive two hours weekly, and post-graduates receive one hour weekly.
Benefits
Trainees will receive:
- Three (3) weeks of Personal Time Off, 11 Holidays and 1 Cultural Holiday.
- Reimbursements for mileage.
- Practicum students receive a volunteer reimbursement of $10 per day worked at Hume Center.
- Doctoral Interns can earn up to $69,155 (please see Doctoral Internship flier for more information).
- Doctoral Interns and Post-graduates are hired as temporary employees and receive temporary employment benefits, including access to medical healthcare, paid jury duty and bereavement time off, and maternity/paternity leave and family medical leave.
