Softball for Hope, Soccer for Togetherness

We are excited to announce the dates of two of our favorite annual Contra Costa County events!

The Hope Cup: April 24, 2015

Hosted by the Putnam Clubhouse and a network of other mental health agencies that includes The Hume Center, the Hope Cup is an all-day softball tournament where mental health agencies and county offices play softball against each other in a friendly tournament. Last year's innaugural tournament saw the Putnam Clubhouse win the Hope Cup. The Hume Center hopes to dethrown the hosts this year.

To play in this tournament, agencies field a team of consumers, family members, and providers to play with modified Putnam Softball Rules. These rules attempt to make the game accessible to all and ensure that every player has a good time. Those at last year's tournament witnessed a plethora of smiles as players got a chance to play a game that most hadn't enjoyed since their childhood.

If you are a provider or consumer at an agency that wants to field a softball team, contact Chris Celio through the Contact Us link at the top of this page.

Wellness and Recovery Summer Picnic/Soccer Game: June 26, 2015

Hosted by NAMI Contra Costa and a network of other mental health agencies, this picnic is a tremendous feast and features music, games, dessert, and soccer! Yes, The Hume Center will once again host a few soccer games during the second half of the picnic. The goal of the soccer game is to prove we're all in this together, which is symbolized by consumers, family members, and providers playing together for a common goal.

Watch for more information about this great picnic soon. We promise you'll leave the park smiling at the end of the day.
