Congressman Mark DeSaulnier's office presented The Hume Center and eight other agencies Special Congressional Recognition in honor of this parntership's work to once again create a Community Softball Tournament to inspire Hope, Recovery, Community, and Togetherness!
On April 24, 2015, the Second Annual Hope Cup was held at Willow Pass Fields. Led by the Putnam Clubhouse, this tournament was a collaborative effort by representatives from each agency. The teams were from The Hume Center, Recovery Innovations, Anka Behavioral Health, Crestwood Behavioral Health, NAMI Contra Costa, Rainbow Community Center, East County Adult Mental Health, Contra Costa's Office of Consumer Empowerment, and of course Putnam Clubhouse.
The day was a great success, with somewhere around 100 people enjoying a day of softball, a giant community picnic provided by the partner agencies, and perfect weather. This same partnership will continue to put on the Community Picnic on June 19 that will feature the exciting Hope Cup Championship Game between Crestwood and the winner of a tie breaker between Rainbow Community Center and Putnam Clubhouse.
The winning agency will get to hold the Hope Cup for a year and etch their name alongside last year's winner, Putnam Clubhouse!
